What to Expect
Congratulations on taking the first step toward becoming an RCC student!
After you submit your application, there are several important steps you can begin completing right away. You do not need to wait for a Navigator to contact you before getting started.
- Watch for your acceptance email with instructions for accessing myRCC.
- Students are automatically accepted into VCCS Schools after completing the application process.
- During the application process, you will be asked to complete identity verification using a valid government-issued photo ID.
- Students should look through the application confirmation page for information regarding tuition status, holds on the account and more.
- You can begin completing these steps as soon as you receive your account information, no need to wait for someone to contact you.
- Financial aid, transcript reviews, and other processes may take time. Check your myRCC account regularly for updates.
Follow these steps to complete your enrollment and prepare for your first semester at RCC.
Immediate Actions
Submit your application to get started.
- During the application process, you will be asked to complete identity verification using a valid government-issued photo ID.
- Valid forms of ID include:
- U.S. passport or passport card (showing signature, front cover, and picture page)
- State-issued driver's license, identification license (front and back)
- U.S. permanent resident card
- Foreign passport with a U.S. visa
- Valid forms of ID include:
- We highly recommend entering your Social Security Number (SSN) in the application if you are planning on applying for Financial Aid. Entering your SSN in the application can prevent delays later down the line. Any information you provide, including your SSN, is submitted through RCC’s secure admissions application.
- Students are automatically accepted into VCCS Schools after completing the application.

Once you receive your acceptance email, activate your student myRCC account using the username provided in your acceptance letter.

How can we help you pay for college?

- After submitting your FAFSA, monitor your financial aid status through the Student Information System (SIS) in myRCC.
- Need assistance with your FAFSA? Schedule with a Navigator or Financial Aid Technician
- You are required to have your Social Security Number (SSN) in the VCCS system in order for your Financial aid benefits to be processed.
New Student Orientation helps you become familiar with RCC resources, expectations, and student support services.
Before Fall semester, there is an in-person New Student Orientation (NSO) held at each RCC campus. To register, visit the New Student Orientation page. For virtual options, create a personal account and complete the Virtual New Student Orientation.
